His people grow restless as he ages, and he is running out of time. He didn’t think a jester could do anything to make him so much as smile in this tense time, but the jester might just carry the answer to it all.

Many travelers offered small tokens, bits and baubles in return for safe passage by Flower Fruit Mountain. Anything to draw the king’s eye away from themselves. But the celestials had turned it into a game - for you see, Sun Wukong, Great Sage Equal to Heaven, was a monster.
The celestials had learned of the king’s disgusting delight purely by accident. After all, how were they to anticipate Sun Wukong sinking his teeth into the pillar the little monkeys had been secured to, swallowing them whole.
And now, Macaque was trussed up and plated like a mouthwatering feast, center stage and ready for his king.

Macaque was always being reminded of the way his body had changed. Such as the way he no longer grew a winter coat, or the way his scent was muted. One of the things he didn't miss was going into heat, the days of frustration and overdriven libido, writhing uncomfortably in a nest. Yeah. Glad to be rid of it. However, he occasionally forgets that others still do.
Others, such as Sun Wukong.
Or: Macaque accidentally walks in on Wukong in the middle of his heat.
