    “Got a smoke, handsome?” Joker asks, and finally he sidles up to the solitary figure standing under the awning.

    There is a pause, a still moment where Matches’ eyes rove over him, taking in his makeup and wig, the glittery dress that clings to him, before recognition dawns and his gaze hardens, darkening to something else entirely.

    “Pretty girl like you? I’ve got anythin’ ya want,” he says, but his eyes offer up a litany of questions. Anything, he says, but the angry set of his eyes screams what are you doing here, Joker? and what do you want? and are you going to make me hurt you?

Hurried mouths smashed against each other in a fight for dominance. As if he was watching a car crash, Robert couldn’t seem to look away. How could he look away? The two most frightening and powerful people in all of Gotham, kissing like their lives depended on it.

    Bruce catches wind of a plot brewing beneath the gates of Arkham Asylum. It's all the more strange and suspicious that Joker hasn't tried to escape, let alone ask for Batman, in months. Concerned, he goes undercover, infiltrates the asylum, and finds none other than the clown prince as his neighbor. It is here that he bonds with his adversary in ways he never expected.

    It is also here, behind these suffocating iron gates, where Bruce discovers the depths of Arkham Asylum's abuses, depths of which leave him drowning as he struggles to maintain his mission's focus and his own burgeoning feelings.

    “I’m not calling you Cap!Bucky, just saying,” Tony declares. “You’re Barnes.”

    Barnes folds his arms across his chest. “Why am I Barnes?” he demands.

    “Well, to be fair, between the three of them, you look most like a Barnes.” Tony shrugs. He points to Noir!Bucky. “You’re Bucky, and you’re James.” He winks at his own Bucky, who rolls his eyes.

    Bucky wrinkles his nose. “Why the hell would any version of me wanna be called James?” he asks, almost disgusted.

    Tony pauses and exchanges a look with the other two. “Spoilers,” he offers, half-heartedly.
    Bucky frowns. “What’s spoilers?”

    Thankfully, Barnes intercedes. “If we get into this now, we’re never going to stop.” He fixes Tony with a steady look. “You’re sure you’re okay with this,” he says, warily.

     
    or alternatively, the one where, by some quirk of multidimensional catastrophe, four Buckys end up in the MCU and Tony has some things he wants to try out.
