    “Besides,” she muttered casually, “I figured Goku would be the one doing the fucking anyway.”

    It all starts because Steve is too dumb to handle his smartphone.

    A wrong number AU in which Bucky Barnes doesn't enter Steve's life (meaning: Bucky wasn't born until the eighties, but Steve is still Captain America) until Steve accidentally dials the wrong number. Wherein there is a lot of texting, some advice via Natasha and Darcy, a bit of pining, and a first date in an amusement park. Oh, and on top of being a disabled veteran, Bucky is a professional catwalker. Literally.

    “I’m fine but…I think we might have a ghost fighting on our side.”
    “Impossible.” Thor interrupted. “Ghosts hate the living.”
    “Yeah well one just saved my life and made a joke about New York’s rat problems.”
    Silence over the radio.

    Or, New York City isn't prepared for a ghostly invasion. The Avengers are finally all in the same place again. Thor and Bruce are back from space with a semi-reformed chaos god and a thousand refugees in tow. Steve and the Rogues have got their pardons and are ready to start being heroes again. But Tony isn't ready trust, neither is his new protegee Spiderman. The fractured team can't seem to come together. It's a good thing then that Danny Phantom is ready to save the day. That doesn't mean anyone is prepared for when he keeps showing up.

    Bucky is restless after Steve pries him out of Hydra's hands, bringing him back to live with him and the Avengers in the Stark tower.
    He's only getting used to the real world again before Hydra is getting the Avengers' attention once more.
    They are selectively kidnapping civilians and dumping their bodies on the side of the road, pumped full of chemicals which makes S.H.I.E.L.D believe that they're working on a new serum, although it's nothing like any of them have ever seen before.

    The serum could make an unstoppable weapon and when the Avengers come to search for it, they find a girl instead. They take her back to live with them for her own safety, but what they still need to find out is that the key to the serum lies in her blood.

    Both haunted by Hydra, Bucky and the girl find comfort in each other, even though they were both created to hurt.
