I wrote a research paper about the criminal justice system in Ace Attorney in terms of legal dystopia by way of examining the in-game system in comparison to the criminal justice systems in the United States and Japan, as they were at the time of the game's initial release.

Summary
Miles Edgeworth emotionally entraps Franziska into officiating his upcoming wedding, an invitation that somehow makes Franziska honor-bound to a family vacation in Kurain. It’s an in-law test run, like letting cats sniff each other under a door to get used to each other.
Franziska refuses to be bested by trivial matters such as "blizzard conditions," let alone "Pearl Fey's teenage angst," "rescuing a stray cat," and "Maya going missing."
(The Feys offer to host a pre-wedding wedding party vacation in Kurain. Spirit channeling puts a bump in the road. Nobody's quite calm about it.)

Summary
So. To set the scene: this is Sebastian’s first official trial since retaking the bar exam. He just accidentally called Justine “mom” when the judge chastised him for “rudely” pointing his baton in his opponent’s direction. Then proceeded to accidentally call Mr Edgeworth, who stands as his co-counsel and mentor, “dad” when the man praised him when he made a good point. Mr Edgeworth and Justine barely reacted, the titles have slipped out before, even if in less professional settings. Pretty normal, standard stuff in Sebastian’s life, all things considered.
Except not because now the court is alight with chaos and Sebastian is confused.
Or. A simple slip of the tongue leads to Sebastian realising how far he’s come.

“I uh... yes.” Miles said after a moment. Saying no might get him kicked out overnight and that was not happening. Apollo and Athena looked to each other but didn’t say anything.
“Well, you and your daughter are welcome to sleep in the extra bed.” The Doctor motioned to the spare patient's bed in the room. “Mr. Wright will have to stay here for about a week. But we can talk about that in the morning. Get some rest. As for you two, visiting hours are over... But I can look the other way as long as you don’t spend the night.” He smiled “Have a good night-” He looked to Miles “Mr. Wright.” and he left them be.

Or: according to the former Master of the Kurain Channeling Technique Misty Fey, breaking the Sacred Urn - and repairing it of course afterwards - is practically a rite of passage for the Fey family given how often it happens. By that logic, Lana Skye, Diego Armando, Adrian Andrews, and Phoenix Wright are all honorary Feys.
Ami Fey just happens to like pink paint.
