Wilbur used to love flowers, and he kept blue ones in varying shades growing all around our backyard. Phil never liked it, saying it was a waste of time, and that he was better off becoming a soldier. He never listened. He continued cultivating hydrangeas, larkspurs, and blue columbines with infinite patience and care, but those flowers, strangely, were all dead now.
