Summary
Penelope has always been labeled as the "good wife", and her marriage as an ideal marriage with a "like-minded" husband.
But she was also a daughter in Sparta, where women were trained physically just like the men. She was a daughter of a Naiad, and so was half-divine. She ruled Ithaca without male help for 20 years - an island in an area known for its piracy. She had mean skills and the backing of the divine. She was every bit the hero that her husband was...and her story began before she even met him.
WARNING: The character of Odysseus is morally gray. As Homer says, he was "complicated." Kings of the time murdered, raped, pillaged (Need more livestock? Go steal some!), and were a law unto themselves. I am trying to walk a thin line between not rewriting history and also writing for a contemporary audience. There is reference to rape in Chapter 15. It is not explicit. Violence is not graphic, but is part of this story.

"Go, go, go!" she called, barely waiting for the others to step through before sprinting down the platform. The train whistle blew a sharp warning, and doors were already slamming shut.
They all but threw themselves onboard. Powder nearly tripped, and Mylo yanked her forward, the force of it sending them both stumbling into the nearest corridor. A second later, the train jolted forward, and the platform disappeared from view.
Panting, Vi ran a hand through her hair. "Every. Damn. Year."
Powder grinned. "Yeah, but we always make it, don’t we?"
Mylo dusted himself off. "Told you we had time."
Vi let out a grunt. "Next time, you can carry your own trunk. Now let's see if we’re lucky enough to find somewhere to sit."
“I’m sure your girlfriend saved you a seat.” Mylo teased, with an impish smile on his face.
“She’s not my- ugh!”
Powder cackled.

We follow Vi and her friends through her last few years at hogwarts. Insert fun and pranks with a mix of hard work. Nothing dangerous going on right? Its not like a war is brewing or anything...

“Caitlyn!”
Caitlyn froze halfway across the porch. She whirled around, eyes frantically scanning the darkness at the sudden, desperate shout.
The Ford pickup had made it about a quarter of a mile down the winding dirt road, still idling with its red taillights lit up. The driver’s side door had been flung wide open.
Vi was running back to Caitlyn in a dead sprint.
Caitlyn’s blood began pounding in her ears once her heart kickstarted back to life. She raced off the porch, charging over the loose gravel of the driveway, dirt kicking up around her heels when she hit the main road.
The cheerleader kept going, legs churning, lungs burning, heart nearly ready to burst. She barely had time to brace herself for impact, mouth open as she panted from the exertion.
Vi collided with her. The force of it knocked the remaining air out of Caitlyn.
OR
Grease meets Arcane. Vi is the leader of her loyal high school gang, The Slicks. Jinx and her pals are the Blue Crew. Caitlyn is the new girl in town, just trying to find her place.
