Summary
It's the beginning of year six at Hogwarts. Draco, facing the dark deed he has been tasked with by Lord Voldemort, has been slipping in his academics and prefect duties. He is a volatile husk of his former self, surviving one day at a time.
While on prefect rounds, Hermione chooses to let Seamus off the hook after he starts a fist fight with a Slytherin. Her bitterness at this prevailing war has reached an all-time peak and she'd be lying if it didn't feel good to see Theo Nott's teeth get knocked in.
McGonagall and Dumbledore eventually find out, and force the pair to perform prefect duties together until they can prove they can maturely handle their workload alone. Somehow, Hermione and Draco must find a way to endure each others' presence multiple hours a week without killing each other. Strangely, in time their company becomes a crutch, a constant, and a welcome reprieve from the growing chaos of the war.
Loosely follows the plot of the last 2 books, including the astronomy tower scene, horcrux hunting, battle of Hogwarts, etc.
