Summary
During the better part of the first year following Mary's death and the events at Sherrinford, Sherlock and John are slowly rebuilding their lives and their friendship.
All seems (relatively) well and John takes comfort in once again being a father, a doctor and a friend.
An unexplained shift in Sherlock's behaviour catches John by surprise, and he begins to worry about his place in his friend's life.
John has to examine everything he thought he knew about Sherlock, himself and their relationship in order to win his rightful place yet again.

After all these years, John Watson was fairly certain he'd worked out all there was to know about Sherlock Holmes. Only he hadn't, and the new revelations leave him reeling. When things go belly-up in John's new life, he is dismayed to find that his place in Baker Street has been subsumed by someone new. This is the story of how everything had to go to the wall before John can find his way back to Sherlock. JohnLock.
