Summary
The eerie notes sent a shiver down Lan Wangji’s spine that was equal parts shudder and joy as his qi recognized the sound as uncanny and his heart recognized it as Wei Ying.
Lan Wangji baited the tendrils, letting them get close to him and then spinning away, out of reach and slashing enough of them with his blade or keep them angry. Or hungry, as Wei Wuxian had suggested.
It was good to fight alongside Wei Ying like this again. So good. Not even with his brother did Lan Wangji feel this sort of seamless partnership in which the two of them became something more than the sum of both of them. He and Xiongzhang were too much alike, he supposed, in their thinking and their methods, where Wei Ying’s quick, mercurial improvisation complimented Lan Wangji’s decisive precision perfectly.
He had missed Wei Ying so much.
A dark wisp brushed his hand, sending a shiver up his arm, and he struck it away before it could coalesce.----
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji fight a lake monster and are forced to confront the things that they keep deeply buried.

Summary
This story takes place in a canon divergence where Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng didn’t run into Wei Wuxian in the supervisory office when he was torturing Wen Chao. Wei Wuxian was declared dead and the Yiling Laozu, the mysterious demon of the Burial Mounds, continued his brutal vendetta against the Wen clan.
After the Sunshot campaign ended, Wei Wuxian returned to the Burial Mounds, intending to take his secrets to the grave. But the cultivation world will not leave him alone.---
As he neared the perimeter of his wards, he saw a figure in shining white robes, carrying a silver and jade sword, striding through the trees with grim purpose.
Wei Wuxian’s heart sank.
Lan Wangji.
Hanguang-jun, they called him now, and Wei Wuxian could see why. He shone against the dingy dimness of the Burial Mounds. He had come out of the Sunshot Campaign a hero. He didn’t have anything to prove by facing the monster of the Burial Mounds. And he certainly wasn’t here to try to negotiate an alliance with the Yiling Laozu for the famously strict and righteous Gusu Lan. That really only left one possible reason.
Wei Wuxian stepped out of the shadows. “Have you come here to kill me, Hanguang-jun?” -

Summary
Lan Xichen stood on the porch of the Jingshi, watching the wet night sky and waiting and worrying. Mostly worrying.
Wangji, please come home. Just come home.
The only answer was the sound of rain on the roof of the Jingshi.
Wangji had stood with Wei Wuxian on the steps of the Koi Tower and publicly announced that he had long known exactly who walked beside him and that he intended to stand by him now, after his identity was revealed to everyone. He’d drawn Bichen against the Jin guards and fought back-to-back, beautifully, with him.
Of course he had. Lan Xichen had known that he would since the moment he realized that the masked cultivator Wangji had brought home could only be Wei Wuxian. How could he be anything else? Who else had Wangji ever looked at like that, with his whole heart in his eyes?---
After the fight on the steps of the Koi Tower, Lan Xichen waits and worries about is brother.

“Wei-qianbei!” The disciple explained in apparent relief upon seeing him. “Thank god I found you!”
“You were looking for me?” Wei Wuxian perked up hopefully. Was it a night hunt they needed his particular expertise on? Or a message from Lan Zhan? A message from Lan Zhan about a nighthunt? He missed night hunting with Lan Zhan so much.
“Zewu-jun sent me to bring you back to the Could Recesses,” The little Lan informed him solemnly.
Wei Wuxian’s heart sank. “...Zewu-jun…? Sent you to bring me to the Cloud Recesses?” Not Lan Zhan. Not that he wouldn’t go at Lan Xichen’s request, but he had hoped… Well, he had hoped a lot of things. “Why?”
“Hanguang-jun is dying.”---
Lan Wangji is suffering from a mysterious curse that is causing him to cough up flower petals and waste away. Wei Wuxian tries franticly to find a way to save him.

Summary
Lan Zhan runs his thumbs along his heart, cradled in both their palms. Wei Wuxian sucks in a breath and pushes his nose into Lan Zhan’s shoulder, rubbing his face back and forth, warmed through. “I can feel it when you do that,” he says. He sounds drunk, dreamy-voiced and breathless. “It’s nice. It’s perfect, it’s like you’re everywhere. Ah, Lan Zhan, you could make me do anything like this, you know.” He wants that. He wants Lan Zhan to hold him still and tell him what to do, to hold his heart in his hand and treat it impossibly gently. He trusts Lan Zhan to death and past it, far more than he could ever trust himself.
Wei Wuxian gives Lan Zhan his heart for safekeeping.

Night-hunts with Wei Wuxian, the exhilaration of fighting along his side again, the quiet thrill of spending a night in the same room at a small countryside inn. Wei Wuxian’s friendship.
It is enough. A smart man would be content and not ask for more.
Lan Wangji is not a smart man.

Post-canon Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian sort of end up as friends with benefits. Lan Wangji is completely fine with it. Until one day they take a bath together.
