Summary
Shane Hollander is 18 years old and a beta when he first competes at World Juniors in Saskatchewan. Shane's only expectation is to bring home gold. Instead, Shane unexpectedly presents as an omega during the gold medal game against Russia. Luckily, his rival Ilya Rozanov is there to help Shane, which is a good thing because Shane knows nothing about being an omega. Rozanov kindly offers to extend his stay to help Shane through his first heat.
Only months later, Shane discovers that he came home with a whole lot more than a silver medal and an unwanted new designation. Somehow he's carrying the baby of a man who lives on the other side of the world. A man who never offered his phone number and doesn't have any social media to speak of.
Somehow Shane is going to have to find a way to explain why he's suddenly pulling out of the 2009 draft, come to terms with giving up hockey and caring for a baby completely alone. All while desperately wishing he could share the joys of first smiles and the stress of sleepless nights with the alpha he's never quite been able to forget.
Especially when that same alpha is now the number one draft pick and impossible for Shane to escape.

Summary
Shane has always had a complicated relationship with his own body.
It’s his biggest tool to success as a hockey player. He wouldn’t be where he is without the trust and care he puts into this own body. So he takes care of it as much as he can. He exercises regularly to keep himself fit and strong, fuels it with the best food and nutrients he can, does his best to listen to the cues his body gives him to rest. It’s a careful balancing act as a professional athlete, stretching his body to its limits while also caring for it deeply.
Still, he can’t deny that he feels let down by it often.
Some days it feels very unfair.
And then some days something even worse happens and that already strained relationship he has with his own body gets even worse.

Summary
After Ilya lost his father in 2017, he buried himself in chasing the Stanley Cup and trying to prove himself to ghosts, even at the expense of the love of his life. After 4 of the most successful consecutive seasons he's ever had in his career, Ilya still knows something is missing in his life and transfers to the Ottawa Centaurs. He tells himself he transferred teams because he was looking for a challenge. He also tells himself it has nothing to do with a certain Montreal player within driving distance. He is a very bad liar.
Shane struggled to pick up the pieces after the love of his life broke his heart and buried himself in the sport they both loved. When he found out he was pregnant four months after Ilya Rozanov told him that their relationship was over, Shane put everything into rebuilding his life and himself. Now he's a solo parent drowning under the guilt of not being able to actually parent.
One chance encounter changes causes cracks in the surface of their carefully controlled lives, and if they’re not careful it will shatter them both entirely.
