In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit. Bilbo Baggins was the Hobbit, and all the hobbits agreed that Bilbo Baggins was the proper hobbit. But Bilbo remembered another life. A wild life, filled with friendship bonds, bright daggers, fleeting feelings, and a pair of startlingly blue eyes. A life that ultimately ended in sorrow and a painful death. And Bilbo Baggins did not want that life. Not if he could help it.
