This is primarily a walkthrough fic with one important backstory caveat:
In addition to becoming childhood friends during the year-long Royal Funeral Procession for Hyrule's Queen... What if Link’s family, Zelda, Impa, Purah, and others were invited to spend a few years in Gerudo Town?
After three years of immersion, Link’s father took Link to become a squire… thereby re-aligning his eldest to the expectations of Hyrule’s male-dominated knighthood. He would become Champion of Hyrule. Zelda, feeling betrayed, disavowed their friendship and everything that Link had become… up until the events we know took place before the Calamity.
He frustrated her. He wasn't her friend. The kid she met on the road to Gerudo Town felt like someone else. After the end of the Calamity, Link slowly began to remember pieces of their childhood together, placing them alongside the memories brought back before fighting Ganon. Six years later, the Upheaval occurred while Link was still processing who he once was... and who he might be.
If you want to skip the tutorial, the heavy backstory and alternate routes start in Chapter 4.
