“Do you think we did the right thing?”
Ephemer swallowed thickly. “I think so,” he said, even if he wasn’t sure himself. “The Keyblade War was…awful. We couldn’t save most of their friends from it—but we can at least save them from the grief of losing them.”
“It doesn’t seem like it should be that simple. How can you wake up and just…”
She trailed off, but Ephemer thought he understood. It’d be a strange sensation, he imagined, to just forget people that you once knew. Or have them disappear without explanation. He wasn’t entirely sure how that worked, and he wondered faintly if there’d be gaps where those people had been. If there’d be moments of confusion, or grief they couldn’t explain, or if they’d just lose everything completely.
“I don’t think I’d want to forget like that,” Skuld finished finally, and a still exhausted part of Ephemer realized he wasn’t sure if he could agree with her.
