"Why d'you do this?" Stu asks.
Frowning, Murdoc trails the knife to his chest, ghosting his collarbone. "Do what?"
"Shag men."
"Why d'you shag women, Stu?" The blade digs in with every point. "For fun. For something to do. For love. For hate. For nothing. Man, woman, it's all sex, at the end of the day."(Stuart doesn't know Murdoc. Not yet, anyway.)

Summary
It puts him in mind of seeing his parents or his old girlfriend after the accident, their eyes glassy and voices trembling. He remembers how he’d blinked through the dull red film that coloured his hospital room and said he was sorry. Sorry for what he put them through.
It felt unfair then. It seems unbearable now.

Stu reached one of his long, large hands around, grabbing Murdoc’s shirt at the chest, just holding on. “You want me, right?” he asked.
Murdoc laughed again, unable not to. It was a laughable situation. He took a hit, not wanting to let the joint burn away in his hand, and he tilted his head to the side, giving Stu a little more room to work with. “So bad it keeps me up every night.”
Stu hummed, not picking up on the sarcasm.
