“And I feel…I dunno. Lighter,” Kal says, introspective as he drags a fry repeatedly through the drips of ketchup on his plate. “Everything feels easier when there’s something to live for. I like my life. That’s not something I thought I’d ever experience again.”
Bruce has finished his food. Kal looks down at his half-finished burger and picks it up, pushing the plate of fries toward the center of the table where they can both reach them.
“Things aren’t so bad when you’ve got people who love you,” Bruce says, agreeing. “Doesn’t mean things aren’t hard, though. Some things just suck.”

Summary
Clark thought he had a pretty good idea of what a relationship with Bruce Wayne would be like. He thought wrong. He especially wasn’t expecting Bruce’s affinity for pet names.
