Summary

Hiei doesn't take well to the peace. He and Mukuro were a great team, and great support to one another. But Hiei can't resist the call of something inside him that says he has to get out of this place of contentment. Being content is good. He's never felt that way before. He thinks he should be grateful. But after a while, he realizes that it isn't the same as being happy, and he leaves Makai.
Koenma calls on Hiei and Kurama occasionally, since they're both hanging around the living realm. It's on one such job that Hiei finds something... someone, to hold his interest.
Earth is being overrun by strange, mindless demons, and Hiei and Kurama are supposed to cross through the portal they keep coming from. But the man Koenma charged with guarding the gate, Ghost, is eager to beat them to the answer of this mystery.

"It's... it's not good," Harry tells them lowly. "They've given him a month's time, only."
There is so much he needs to explain, but his head is foggy and exhausted and he can't think properly, can't think of how to relay all that he's learned.
"Have you heard of Alucinatio?" is what he starts with.
"The Daydream potion," Hermione says. "The person who intakes it experiences very vivid and realistic daydreams of all they could ever want, but is essentially in a severely catatonic state out in the external world, incapable of any basic functions."
Harry nods. "Somebody's given it to Malfoy." He remembers the tattered remains of a black cloak wrapped around Malfoy. "I think it might have been Professor Snape."
They take a minute to process that.
"And... the cure?" Ron asks.
"Tears of anyone the experiencer craves love of," Hermione answers.

Eren bites his lip, cheeks a bit pink— he’ll blame it on the alcohol if Levi calls him out, but they both know better— and lets Erwin guide his hands. The cue slides through them, hitting the cue ball and sending it rolling across the table. There are drunken cheers from somewhere off to the left, but Eren isn’t paying attention. He’s turning into Erwin, eyes almost closed, breathing in deep.
It’s obvious to anyone looking closely enough. Eren has never been subtle.
Levi isn’t the only one watching them with no interest in who wins or loses the game. Mike leans against the wall across the room, smirking as Erwin pulls back from Eren. Slowly, palms lingering on his forearms a moment too long, still in Eren’s space. Eren flusters and goes to line up his next shot, circling the table to put distance between himself and Erwin, who’s watching with shameless appreciation.
When Mike notices he’s been caught staring he grins wider, rolling his eyes in faux exasperation, and Levi snorts into his beer.
Eren has been doing this dance with the two of them for a while now; one step forward, two steps back. It was cute at first— endearing. Adorable.
Now Levi just wants to shake him.

She parted the curtains, and then after a few long seconds, a figure dressed in loose white robes moved into the room, stopping once he stood before Levi.
Levi couldn't help but stare at the Untouched with furrowed brows, as though he were some sort of puzzle that needed working. His eyes were bolted into the ground, hands fisted in his robes, head tilted far to the side to expose his throat. Levi had never seen an Omega submit so fully without falling to their knees. He wasn't sure how he did it, conveying such utter obedience with nothing more than the angle of his head, but then the scent hit him. Levi was standing in an instant, fists clenched at his sides.
By the sisters and all the heavens, this Omega smelled clean. No trace of anyone's scent but his own, and it was pure and bright. Like nothing Levi had ever smelled before, and he wanted to drown it in his own. Sink his teeth into that unmarred skin, taste the oil of that Omegan scent on his tongue. Rub their necks together, growling out his dominance. Mark him, and mate him.
Carry him back to Eren like a new bride so that he could do the same.

“No one eats until this place is clean. Not just this morning, but every morning. Get it done, and we’ll go from there.”
Everyone’s eyes snap over to him. Auruo grins, obviously having expected this, a devious kind of enjoyment on his face. Petra’s smirk is softer, but she’s amused too, and she gestures over towards Levi at the collective groans of the recruits.
“Captain Levi will be overseeing your training personally, so I suggest you get to it.”
There are a flurry of salutes, a handful of half-hearted acknowledgments, yes Captain, as the recruits all slowly move to obey.
All except one, who’s crouched next to a bunk with his hand in his pack, frozen in place. He’s staring up at Levi, eyes wide and vivid bright, irises so green it’s almost eerie. His hair is wild, tangled from the ride in and falling in messy russet waves across his cheekbones. He cocks his head to the side, and his nostrils flare as he breathes in deep, brows furrowing in confusion.
Something inside of Levi throbs, and it’s painful, and suffocating.
As though he’s full of smoke, and there is nowhere for it to go.
