Summary
Steve has never won a fight. He’s had his ass kicked left, right, and center. Hell, Johnathan has kicked his ass. Steve can bat a monster, but when it comes to people? Steve Harrington has never really won a fight.
But that’s because he’s getting put in the wrong kinds of fights. They think he’s a hammer, when really, anyone who grew up BFFs with Carol becomes a scalpel.
(Dustin gapes like a fish. “Holy shit, dude…” Steve would chide language if he thought it would do anything. “You just performed real life Vicious Mockery. I think that guy took psychic damage!”)

AU. Everyone knows the business of Steve Harrington’s parents, although it’s handled as if they shouldn’t. John Harrington’s an asshole to both his son and his wife, and is constantly traveling for work, and the reason his wife goes with him is to prevent him from increasing the likelihood that Steve has a half-sibling. They used to be home more, but these days, they’re a rare sight, and Mr. and Mrs. Harrington are ridiculously hard to get ahold of, so most people stopped trying. But just because everyone knows something… doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the truth.

“Eddie.”
“Huh?” Steve looked up, snapping out of his relief-induced haze, and looked at Munson, who had just blurted that out and dropped his disposable towel on the floor when he met Steve’s eyes.
“I am. Eddie, I mean. I’m Eddie. You only got my last name earlier,” Munson explained with a goofy, adorable grin as he reached down to pick up the towel – Steve raised one amused eyebrow at the blush spreading over the neurosurgeon’s cheeks.
“I’m Billy. First year cardiothoracic surgery attending,” Hargrove butted in, smirking when Eddie snapped his head back and glared daggers at him.
“He didn’t you ask you anything,” Eddie furrowed his eyebrows at the blond.
“I don’t remember him asking you anything, either,” Billy raised one eyebrow at the neurosurgeon, who looked one second (or maybe less) away from throwing Billy across the room.After a series of events, Steve moves back to his hometown, hoping to leave the past behind.
He never thought he would feel safe again – with someone else, or even with himself. But Eddie Munson and Billy Hargrove are two idiots who make Steve feel things he had never felt before.
