Killer had never been a good sleeper.
This had been established long before Cross arrived, the others would sometimes waive his odd behaviours as being a result of him sleeping so infrequently. Not that he wasn’t weird of his own choice, Killer loved nothing more than doing or saying something odd to get a reaction, but there were some days where he was visibly off even from his own usual brand of strangeness. Those were the days you could tell it was beginning to wear him down.
The only time he ever seemed to sleep well and for long was after coming back down from stage 3. Any time Cross had seen it happen, Killer was always too spent afterwards - emotionally and physically - to do anything but melt into the nearest seat or shoulder and doze off. So it was generally assumed that was the only way he could sleep normally.
Until Cross began to notice a new pattern emerging.

Most of the crew slept well after a heist, stealing things and avoiding bullets was a good workout and once the adrenaline of running from the law faded it was easy to drop off. This wasn't true for Matt. He'd always been a notoriously bad sleeper, until one heist with the lads when Gavin discovers a solution.

Summary
Cross’s universe is gone, completely erased. He’s left by himself, (or what he wishes was by himself) with the guilt of his actions.
That is until another figure comes along. Someone who would save him, help him. But how is Cross supposed to believe this? How is he supposed to believe it after what happened with the Protector?
aka. Cross trying to adjust to living with the Bad Sanses after being alone (with XChara, but he doesn’t have a good relationship with him) in the remnants (at least, he wishes there were remnants) of his universe.

Summary
The Multiverse is alive, and not at the same time. It isn't anything fully conscious, but at the same time it's aware of every thing happening in it. Every meeting, every friendship, every marriage.
Every argument, every fight.... every war.The War between Positivity and Negativity was going to be a conflict, and also a bond that lasted a lifetime. So many things happened, and the bond wasn't happening. The two were getting further and further apart, and the war between them was getting worse and worse.
It needed some form of intervention.
In other words, the Multiverse turns two gods back into 6-year-olds
