Summary
Trinity takes a moment to register the sound, and before she knows it, she feels strong hands cradling her face.
“Are you okay?” Garcia asks, much quieter this time. Her thumb tenderly strokes Trinity’s cheek as she inspects the wound on her face.
“Yeah, it’s my fault anyway,” Trinity shrugs, “I should have known better than to be in the kicking zone.”
Garcia scowls, pointedly looking at Robby for the rest of the story.
Robby hesitates for a moment, “She got kicked by a patient and her head hit the wall. She was in and out of consciousness for a couple of minutes.”
Garcia sits up straighter, now baring her teeth. “A couple of minutes?! Why hasn’t she been to CT yet?! Why hasn’t–”
Robby holds his hands up in surrender, “Slow down, Yoyo. We literally just got her in the stretcher.”

When Trinity starts the first shift of her residency, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and only mildly hungover, her soulmate is perhaps the furthest person from her mind.
Sure, everyone always says that the best place to meet your soulmate, past college and school of course, is at a new job. Hands can be shaken, new faces are seen, yadda yadda yadda, you get the picture. It seems like all her life, people have just been waiting to see that burst of color launch across their skin, the tattoo that will forever mark them as belonging to someone, somewhere.
Who would want that?
Okay, so maybe it's crossed her mind. Once or twice. But Trinity's twenty-six now, and she's decided that maybe it wouldn't be so bad if she never found her soulmate. She doesn't exactly have a good track record with the people closest to her, after all.
