It only gets worse from there.

Here’s the thing: Vash Saverem is broke. Not just poor — oh, no. He’s out-on-the-street broke. He’s three eviction notices down and the last one was printed on pink paper. Fired from two jobs within a week flavor of broke. He hasn’t eaten since yesterday morning when he inhaled a granola bar and had to drink directly from the tap to keep from choking.
So, when he got said pink-papered eviction notice, Vash knew he couldn’t be picky about his employment anymore. When he initially went job searching, all his hope had spiraled down the drain with every page he sifted through. References, high school diploma, good standing, experience… Every single one listed something that Vash simply didn’t have. By the time he got to the fifteenth page, all the listings had been for such specific types of people that it was no wonder they weren’t getting snapped up immediately. Contractors and freelancers and people with connections that Vash could never even hope to have. All except for one:

Lord in heaven, something must be seriously wrong with Wolfwood. Just why, exactly, is his body reacting like this to the implication that Knives is trying to— to breed Vash?
He's never been happier that Vash doesn't even seem to be aware of his presence. He doesn't know how he would ever live with it— Vash knowing Wolfwood had guided him like a lamb to the slaughter was humiliation enough.
In the end, this is all his fault, isn't it, for delivering Vash safe and sound.Wolfwood watches Knives claim Vash, and hates himself for finding it arousing. Knives makes sure Wolfwood knows who Vash belongs to.

Suguru froze with his hand out. He could feel the damaged spine of the book against his middle fingertip. It took a moment for him to register what he was seeing.
Satoru stood with his back to Suguru, clearly looking at himself in the mirror. That, in and of itself, was nothing unusual. Satoru was good-looking. Suguru could admit that — had, in fact, admitted it to Satoru before. Satoru also knew — without Suguru’s admission — that he was good-looking. Suguru had seen Satoru check himself out often enough. It didn’t even need to be in mirrors. Reflective windows were enough to have Satoru slow down his walking speed as he turned this way and that, preening under his own gaze.
What was unusual was what Satoru was wearing.
He still had on his button-up shirt, though it was rumpled from the day’s use. Suguru could just make out from the reflection he could see over Satoru’s shoulder that he still wore his tie, although loosened, and that the top button or two were undone. On his bottom half, Satoru wore sheer black nylon leggings and nothing else.
