He’s about to take a breath to steady himself before he remembers how much he dislikes that feeling now. And it feels so wrong to breathe but he feels so… lost without it. He activates his bellows-lungs, trying to feel the way air rushes in, screwing his face up as he forces the motion. And it rushes, and the air comes and comes. But relief never follows. There is no satisfaction, no calm, no comfort. Occtis doesn’t know how to steady his nerves that no longer light up and flare but still feel fear. The emotion feels real, but there is no physicality associated with it. No pit in his stomach, no shivers, no shaking, no clammy palms. That just feels worse. Stuck with this feeling with no way to express or release it.
Or, five times Occtis explores his undeath with his companions and one time he starts to figure it out on his own.

Pin chooses this moment to tug on Occtis’s pant leg again, this time with a low growl. A second warning. Next he’ll yip and start nipping at Occtis’s ankles. Occtis raises a hand to send him back to his pocket dimension and is halfway through the first flourish when Pin lets go, his ears flat as he stomps his forefeet.
“Pin—”
Pin turns his back on Occtis with an angry flick of his tail before stalking off and jumping up onto the bed, laying his head on Thaisha’s thigh and heaving a put upon sigh with breath that he doesn’t need.
“Oh sweetie.” Thaisha scratches Pin behind the ears. “You don’t have to bully Occtis into going to bed anymore, you do know that, right? That he doesn’t need to sleep?”

Guiding us to each other across many lifetimes.For his entire life, Eiland had visions of the past. Visions of a different life, different people, but he has never understood the significance of them until Kira, Mistria’s newest resident, arrived with eyes that had haunted his dreams. Now he’s connecting the dots between past and present, finding his soul more settled than ever, and getting answers to questions he never realized he had. Perhaps they weren’t just visions of the past but of a past life. His own.
In the past, Kiliaen struggled with his duties as the Caldosian Oracle, feeling the weight of its mantle heavy on his shoulders but at least he had the loves his life, the Dragonsworn and her sworn Dragon at his side. But when disaster strikes and Caldarus is sealed away, it starts a series of events that have repercussions, not just in their lives but in their future lives as well.
Working together, the past and present must find the culprit and fully release Caldarus from his chains so they can set the world to rights again.
