Tears streamed down Jaskier’s face, fingers trembling even through the forced calm clouding his mind like a room filling with smoke, filling every crevice until there was nothing but fog, enough to make you sink to your knees and lose yourself to it.
He could breathe, although it felt like someone else was breathing for him, even as the smoke filled his mind with immobilizing calm.
The fingers kept combing through his hair, a rumbling voice sending him deeper into oblivion even as the words themselves warped and dissolved before they even reached his ears, arriving in broken pieces he wasn’t even sure were for him.
He wanted so desperately to lean into the ghosts of comfort. They would be lovely to drown in, to choke on until it took over every flayed nerve that was screaming at him in pain.“-ok, Jask. You’re ok.”
At least the pounding in his head was starting to recede. He was so...he was so tired. He could care less where the ghosts carried him, now.
