“It’s something to do,” Armand sighed.
Daniel just wants to get through The Vampire Lestat's documentary in one piece. The Vampires Lestat, Louis and Armand aren't making it any easier for him.

"I am Lestat. By definition I am superior, so smugness would naturally follow," he said in that unbearably haughty way of his. "Some relentlessly buzzing mortal asked me about these Swifties, which I took to be either a form of modern conveyance or a tiresome sexual reference, so I dismissed it as silliness beneath my notice. It seems to have caused some displeasure."

The first surprise (besides seeing a fledgling vampire gathering rats on Rue Royale, besides feeling Lestat’s presence like an electric-shock hum beneath his skin as he followed that same fledgling into grimier, rundown corners of the city that was his, once, besides seeing Lestat miserable and quiet and clutching at his wooden mockery of a piano) is that it’s Lestat who pulls away first. The second surprise is the reason why.

Runs a hand back through his hair, looks up at Louis through his painted lashes. Then, softer: “You still think I am withholding?”
Which - - fuck. Louis laughs.
“Yeah, baby, I do.”

A year after Louis and Lestat reunite, they're still figuring it out. Daniel calls it out, Louis tries to move them forwards, and maybe they just fuck instead.

There's just this: the sweet, electric tang of the air after a summer storm on his tongue, soft lips on his cheek, strong arms around his waist.
It's the last one that does him in, more than anything else. Armand had shattered his body and his heart, had reduced him to this vile, crawling thing he'd become, had mutilated his Nicki, murdered his Claudia, seduced his Louis. And all of it — every lie, every blow, every betrayal and every wound — all of it crumbles away in the face of the simple act of being held.
Lestat turns, brushes his nose against Armand's, and says, "Okay."
