Summary
In a fated encounter in the middle of nowhere, Christopher Pike, a cowhand drifting from place to place in an attempt to make a living, meets Leah Kennedy, an aristocrat whose journey to the other side of the country has been interrupted by misfortune. When she brings him back from death's door, a fire stronger than a burning star is ignited. In a lawless land, they will have to fight for their shared future, forging alliances and figuring out a marriage along the way.
This story features StarfleetStgMgr's character Leah Pike from her Star and Dove Universe, as well as characters from my Shield and Shimmer series, even as this is a complete AU. Readable as a standalone, though contains a lot of references.

Summary
Summer of 2014. Captain Steve Rogers is starting to find his footing in the 21st century as the Head Strategist of the newly established Avengers Initiative. He’s doing what he’s meant to do: protecting the world and leading his troops. With the newfound existence of aliens and the fall of the corrupted, infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D shaking the public’s trust, he has his work cut out for him. And that’s good, right? He doesn’t need anything else. What happened on a magical July morning a year ago was nothing at all.
His world implodes as a wave of inexplicable, supernatural events washes over the globe. The blame is quickly pinned on former HYDRA operatives, the recently de-programmed Sergeant James Barnes among them. With no good options left, Steve and Bucky go rogue in an attempt to uncover and neutralize the threat before it swallows the world whole.
The problem: the brilliant mind that might be the key to solving all this belongs to a woman Steve once scorned, and she won’t be happy to find him standing at her doorstep.
