It was at the end of the academic year that she led him away. Her hand brushing his and then fingers slipping between as she pulled him away from the path the rest of the faculty were taking to drown themselves in copious brews to forget a particularly riotous group of third-years.
Down they went, walking into a small valley before reaching the lake, near a twisted few trees giving shelter from the bright sun.
“What is this?” His voice soft and uncertain as she turned to face him, those lovely curls framing her face in a way that begged him to kiss her pink lips.
“Us. If you want it?” Her reply was raised in a question.
A question he answered by stepping forward until her back pressed into the tree, his head dipping down enough to capture her is a long overdue kiss.
He kissed her like a man who had longed for this very moment for more days than he was able to count, lips and tongue and teeth and breath all mashed together without careful finesse.
This was a breaking apart. A coming together. A melding of bodies that had been circling the inevitable for months.

His eyes flashed towards hers. “What?” he asked.
“I didn’t think I’d find myself in a position like this tonight,” she said, her lips pulling into a grin. Draco seemed to realize then exactly what it looked like they were doing. He huffed a quiet laugh.
“You didn’t have any hot dates lined up after our gym session, then?” he asked.
She shook her head. It would be quite pointless to go on a date with someone else when her mind was so set on him. “Can’t say I did,” she tsked.
“A shame,” he frowned. He put more pressure on her leg, causing her to hiss again. She tilted her head back against the ground. He continued, “You always look your best after I’ve gotten you sweaty and flushed.”

He never came anywhere alone. He always had someone, some gorgeous glamorous witch on his arm, most of the time.
“Labra floris,” he muttered, then let out a strangled, dark laugh. “Pansy said she could get you to do it, but I never believed you actually would.”
Hermione huffed to retort, to explain, to defend, but he cut her off.
“Do you have any idea what that does to me?” he croaked and she startled a bit. Not only did he sound sincere, he sounded…unhinged. A bit deranged, even.
“As if I haven’t imagined it a million times.” He raked a hand through his hair, leaving it messy in a very comely way. “That colour is…fuck.”
A sudden thrill overtook her as she understood.
She tilted her head, blinking as innocently as she could. “It’s just lipstick, Malfoy.”

She’s halfway down the hall but pauses instantly, looking over her shoulder at him. He can’t interpret her expression, not with the way his head is pounding with a sudden rush of blood at his daring, and at the way her entire body has turned to face him.
He barely restrains himself from sweeping his gaze down her form, something he does frequently whenever her attention is elsewhere. They haven’t had sex since Lyra’s conception was confirmed – two years, eight months, thirteen days – but he comes for her all the time.
“I didn’t think you’d remember.” There’s a tinge of wonder in her voice.
He manages to keep the incredulity out of his. “Of course I did.”
