Summary
Nick hadn't been able to bring himself to leave Gatsby alone, waiting for a call that would never come, work be damned. In the end, that decision saved Gatsby's life.
In the aftermath of the dismal summer of 1922, Nick's and Gatsby's shared tragedy and the latter's near brush with death brought the two of them closer together than they ever imagined they'd be. Gatsby lost plenty, but he gained something so much more important in the long-run, and he wants nothing more than to show Nick what he means to him and how grateful he is for everything he's done for him.
For their first anniversary together, Gatsby has planned a lavish trip across the country to Los Angeles, California, where they'll be staying at the exclusive and controversial Hotel Cortez as personal guests of its equally-controversial owner, Mr James Patrick March. What begins as a romantic getaway quickly unravels as the lovers discover the dark secrets the hotel hides, and when Nick becomes the target in a twisted, elaborate game, Gatsby is ready to go to ANY lengths to protect him.

Cas looked uncertain, shifting as small waves splashed against his stomach. He held out his hand. “Would you do it with me?”
A hundred innuendos flashed across Dean’s brain, followed by another hundred sarcastic chick flick moments retorts, but he looked at Castiel standing in front of him with the grey-green Atlantic licking at his skin and the moon reflected in those unearthly eyes and the sea breeze doing things to that stupid fucking hair, and he was privately sure in that moment that if Cas asked him to rebuild the Byzantine Empire and give it to him in a shoebox he’d be booking a flight to fucking Istanbul tomorrow.
Instead he reached out and grabbed Cas’ hand.
