Summary

Basically, the love story that these two deserve.
Takes place in fall/winter of the Party’s junior year (1987 - 1988). Told from dual POV of both Mike and Will.

Summary
Post season 4, vaguely pre-season 5. Things fall apart, to say the least. After everything, the party's not really a party anymore. Mike wants to fix it, but he doesn't know how.
Mike's POV, lots of emotions, I tried writing in the present tense which I don't normally do. There's byler, there's an el-initiated milkvan breakup, there's the party (sans max unfortunately) being friends. Hypothetically this could take place between seasons, but I'm certain there'll be something in season 5 that makes that impossible.

"did you mean it?" his voice is barely above a whisper, and mike strains to hear him amidst the deafening silence that surrounds them. confused and caught off guard by the sudden inquiry, mike is momentarily unsure of what will is referring to. but as will continues to speak, the realization dawns on him, and his heart rate quickens with anticipation and nervousness.
"the thing you said that night," will continues, avoiding mike's gaze and casting his eyes around in every direction but towards him. "about you wanting to kiss me or... or were you just drunk?" his words are barely audible, but they resonate deeply within mike, causing his eyes to widen with shock and realization.
OR
mike wheeler drunkenly tells will byers he wants to kiss him.
