Summary
Aedes Elysiae is generally a peaceful place, though perhaps idyllic might be the more accurate term. After all, nothing really happens to the village, and the villagers often joked that they've been forgotten by everyone, even the Titans.
But of course, humans will always find a way to invent something that lurks in the night.
For as long as Phainon can remember, The Beast had always been this nebulous, fearsome creature that remains on the dark edges of memory. Sure, he believed it the first few times that his mother told him about it, swearing that she'd seen grooves in the wood that couldn't have been made by anyone other than it, but like anyone else, he grows up.
Then, his father disappears.
Galba had returned from a hunting expedition, dishevelled, missing his bow and babbling about a castle in the woods. It'd taken the better part of the day to coax him down to some semblance of calm, and even then, he'd only started talking when Audata started crying, begging to know where her husband went.
"M-monster," Galba stammers, his eyes wild. "It was huge, enormous. Hieronymus pushed me away, told me to– to go. He said he would be right behind me."

Summary
That’s got to be the weirdest looking dog Ajax has ever seen in his life.
At least, Ajax thinks it’s a dog. It’s got scraggly little ginger tufts of fur around the neck and a strip of wild fur running down the spine like a mohawk, ending in more bushy, fluffy fur bits sprouted at the end of the tail. There are also some sort of strange protrusions from its head, like antlers, or maybe tumours? Fuck if Ajax knows, he’s not a medical professional.
But even with his lack of medical knowledge, he knows the dog-thing is in bad shape; it’s so covered in dirt and blood that Ajax can’t even tell what colour it is beneath all that grime.

In which Ajax finds, what he calls in his mind, a "Dog-Lizard", on his random walk around the city and accidentally becomes a pet parent without realizing he's adopted a god.
