When working with Batman on the mean streets of Gotham City, you pick up a lot of things. Like how to take down a perp in five seconds, or where exactly to aim your grappling hook for most effective traversal.
Unfortunately for Robin, he must have left before Batman got around to teaching him what to do when your alien teammate starts to overdose on heroin.
No one to call on for help, let alone clue for what to do, all Robin has to go on is what Starfire tells him. and what she’s telling him is she’s crashing. She is crestfallen, broken and more alone than she’s ever felt before. And Tamarans are a people deeply in tune with their emotions. Whatever effect the heroin had on her physiology, this despair she feels is the most pressing.
So it falls to Dick to help Star feel wanted.
