“You should’ve said something earlier. You’re a sight for sore eyes.”
“Would it have made a difference?” he asks, long lashes obscuring silver eyes. Akechi’s eyes are unreadable, and he’s back in his face, taking up too much space, and now their noses are brushing against each other’s, and his eyes are fluttering close as their lips meet slowly, gently. Ren’s heart does a funny little thing, skipping a beat or two, and there’s something incredibly poetic about being kissed by your own killer as if you’re their salvation, as if their very soul is tethered to yours. As Goro removes his lips from Ren’s and leans back to look at him, his eyes are honest.
“Don’t let it mean anything”, he whispers, and Ren’s not sure if it’s meant for him, or himself.

Summary
“You never disappoint”, a purr in the air, lost against the overbearing scent of wine. He twirls away from the podium, then saunters over to the detective that still held him at gunpoint. A red glove reaches over, cocking the gun towards his chest rather than his forehead covered by raven curls. The detective watches silently, chin raised in interest, “My heart is right here, detective.”
“It’s not your heart I’m aiming for”, Akechi counters; Amamiya huffs through his nose.
“Could have fooled me.”

“Hey, Byleth”, he speaks up, eyesight somewhere on the wet creaking floorboards, “There’s… something on my mind, and it’s been killing me. I’m a bit bad when it comes to words, though. But I’d like to tell you before it’s late and regret’s kicking me in the gut.”
“Alright.”
Shez’ Adam’s apple bobs. His thin fingers wrap around Byleth’s wrist that’s been holding his head up. He fumbles a bit as he tries to remove straps and cloth to find skin, and he breathes in as if to try to say something, but he doesn’t. He bites his lip, looks Byleth in the eye, and then he nuzzles his nose into his wrist, lips lingering just a millimeter from his skin; breathing through his mouth makes his wet lower lip touch Byleth’s skin. There’s fire in his eyes as he meets Byleth’s again, who feels something tug at his chest as the other’s rough voice speaks up, “Would you let me call you Professor?”

Summary
Goro's been waiting years for his eighteenth birthday, so he can finally out one over on his father. He plans to serve him revenge the only way he knows how, but ruining Shido's life with his death. Its a simple task. Easy to do.
But he didn't expect to be rescued, and stranded on a deserted isle. At least he thinks its deserted. He can't find his rescuer, but every morning there's a pile of freshly caught fish on the beach. And at night he can see someone out in the water watching him from just beyond his campfire's light.
They refuse to come talk to him, but every time he tries to drown himself they pull him back from the brink of death.
Is this just a cruel game, or maybe Goro has found someone to help him find the value he feels his life has lost.

Summary
All of this is biology, is nothing, is their hormones and cravings and the illusion of compatibility creating the shadow of happiness on the walls of the Northern Fortress. There is no happy ending for them; there is no world where they are anything but desperate and terrified and starving on crumbs of peace thrown at them by the jeering specter of his father.
They’ll try.
They’ll fail.
They’ll die.
It’s as simple as that.
There’s a lump in Goro's throat, large and tight as he presses impossibly closer to Akira. Foolish. Idiotic. If only he was smart enough to not want more from this losing game of chess they were trapped in.
Even after spending time apart, tensions remain high between the Prince and the Thief. New challenges approach, and they’ll have to reconcile their differences if they want to make it through the coming winter.
