Summary
There is not a lot that can be denied to Mobei Jun. It seems to be cemented by the way that Shang Qinghua falls into bed with him. Yet it seems that while Shang Qinghua will willingly give up his body, Mobei Jun will never hold his heart.
Mobei Jun gets drunk off the other man’s body, sinks into it, revels in it and unspools as much pleasure as possible between them. Yet, when he grazes his teeth over the small patch of skin where he could leave his mark, Shang Qinghua always rebuffs him with a nervous laugh.
“My king,” Shang Qinghua exhales, breath hot against Mobei Jun’s lips. “It really wouldn’t be proper to do that to a servant.”
Mobei Jun does not care, but he can sense the layered meaning— Shang Qinghua does not want Mobei Jun to do it to him, does not want to push the physical gratification over the edge into something more.

The object on the floor glints in the firelight, and Mobei Jun crouches to pick it up. His face is immoving; slowly, he turns the An Ding peak lord crown in his hand, looking at the blood-soaked metal through the light.

Summary
Shang Qinghua is sent to assassinate the great Mobei Jun. Unfortunately, his plan is foiled pretty fast after one misstep lands him in the path of a mysteriously dark member of the Mobei clan.
The man steps forward, water rippling around him. Despite the fact that Shang Qinghua is squarely out of the water and in his clothes, he still feels incredibly intimidated. “What are you? A secret lover? Lost courtesan? An overeager eunuch?”
Shang Qinghua tries to leap to his feet but suddenly, a black burst of qi bursts forth from the other demon’s palm and whips towards Shang Qinghua. It grabs him and slams him down onto his knees, and he feels the magic force the truth out of his mouth.
“Assasination!” Shang Qinghua blurts out and immediately clamps his mouth shut, trying to fight against the magic. It doesn’t work; the other man’s power pries his lips apart. “I’ve been sent to assassinate Mobei Jun!”
