Summary
Fix-it as much as I could for the Teen Wolf 2023 movie's plot holes and that ending I just cannot accept.
Stiles is left by Lydia and feels like he can't count on Scott - he's vulnerable. This almost costs him his life, so he decides to find ways to protect himself, with mixed results. Derek is the one to stay close, until he dies. Stiles can't accept that.

Derek looked good, Stiles decided. Rested, tanned, all in black, Eli on his arm, already sleepy and almost drooling on his shoulder. The atmosphere changed instantly when Derek breathed in his scent. “Stiles?”
“Yeah, I’m... I evolved?” he quoted Derek, who openly stared at him.
“I can smell that,” Derek whispered and surprisingly, his eyes seemed to react too, lighting up discreetly.
“Come in?” Stiles chanced, smiling, even though he was panicking inside.
Derek didn’t answer, he pulled Stiles in for a beautiful hug instead, strong, and warm, reassuring and affirming, his nose almost indecently buried in his neck. Stiles returned the hug, feeling grounded for the first time in more than a year.

“Yeah, and I’m just saying.” Stiles crossed his arms, cocked a hip, and planted himself in front of the distressed denim display like a final boss made of sarcasm and questionable fashion choices. “It’s seventy-five degrees out, you’re dressed like the lead singer of a post-apocalyptic boy band, and this store doesn’t believe in the phrase ‘too much effort.’ So if you're here, you're getting styled. You’ve officially wandered into my domain.”
He gestured around them with a flourish that nearly knocked over a hanging rack of silk camp shirts. “Welcome to Hale’s. Where style goes to live, and black goes to die.”
The guy blinked. Very slowly. “Do you talk like this to every customer?”
“No,” Stiles said, grinning. “Just the ones who look like they bench press small cars and scare children for fun.”
