“You’re… not afraid?” His voice was barely a peep and he half-turned away while still keeping him in his peripheral. On instinct, his fingers reached up and traced the edges of the crystal around his neck, readying to grasp it as he awaited his answer.
“Why would I be afraid?” He sounded genuinely confused. “You’re like the coolest person I’ve met! Plus—” he poked his side and George yelped, jumping back from the ticklish sensation. “You’re so scrawny and small! I’d never be afraid of you!”
George never wanted to be one of them. But at eight years old, he discovered he was a Psychic and he was committed into a faraway island academy for Extramundanes. Despite the difficulty of making friends when even other super-powered classmates are afraid of him, George finds a tight-knit group of best friends who aren't afraid to stand up for him.
Yet with age comes his developing abilities, and as he grapples for control, the disappearance of one of his best friends leads George and his friends on a runaway road trip to rescue him. However, they fail to realize their true adversary is the threatening power searing inside one of their own.

Summary
“You missed me,” George cuts him off and wraps his arms around his neck, pulling Dream into a second hug that’s somehow warmer than the first, even if less forceful.
“I missed you,” Dream affirms, the top of George’s head so close to his lips that he can feel his breathing shifting his hair. “So much, George.”
“I know,” George whispers, and Dream can hear the smile in his voice. And Dream knows that even if he doesn’t say it, the way George’s thumb brushes against his hair at the nape of his neck means I missed you too.
or; George comes home for the summer after his first year away at college, and Dream decides 800 miles of driving are his last chance to convince him to stay.

Dream let go of the medicine cabinet entirely, moving to stand between his legs. “Why do you sound surprised?”
Palms on his forearms made it hard to think, the way they kept sliding down to his hands as if drawn there. “I’m not, I just–“ He took a breath, took Dream’s hands in his. “It’s a thank you.”
“Oh.” And Dream looked so pleased, a secret smile threatening the corners of his lips. “Well, you’re welcome.”
George gets terribly sick, and he feels like death, and maybe it’s time he learns that it’s okay to accept help. Especially when it’s from the two people he loves most in the world.
