Things… change.
Ghost supposes that many would probably say that they get better. They do get better, don’t they? Yes, they do. Things change, and they are better. The Infection is gone, and Hollow is safe, and Hornet is happy, and so Ghost is fine. Perhaps they are selfish, and they mourn a dying world that they can never return to, and they are more alone than ever before, but they’ll get over it.
…And it’s not as if anyone will notice if they don’t.

Summary
She blinks away the spotting in her vision, looking around at the horrid predicament she’s found herself in. Surrounding her are tangles of roots, composed from the same matter as Greyroot. But these have no life pulsing through them. The bark is dry, brittle entirely. She uses this weakness to her advantage, throwing her weight around as much as she is able until the wood breaks, sending her careening to the ground. Her movement seems to startle whatever was shoved into her as its movements quicken and her pain increases. She spends many moments curled around herself on the ground, choking back expletives and sobs. The creature pushes out against her shell, she can feel its tendrils wrapped around her organs, squeezing them, destroying them. She gags. Nothing comes out.
Or: Hornet has gotten herself cursed and must find a way to survive it, cure it, and live in the aftermath.

Hornet raised an eyebrow, trying to project as much concern as she could through her mask. She was extremely skeptical at best.
“Your tool certainly seems sharp enough to pierce my shell, sir… But why would I want to do so?”
Zylotol chuckled heartily. “Because filling your body with Plasmium is so beneficial! It protects you from harm! And it feels exceedingly good!”

Summary
She stumbles into the main room of the Exhaust Organ, crying out for the fighters to stop, but she is too late. The scene before her roots her in place, hands covering her mouth.
The spider freezes in the middle of her strike, a rough mimicry of her sibling's parry, needle piercing their silken shell.
Her sibling's face is distorted with pain, but most importantly, shock. Like they weren't expecting to see her here.

Lace arrives at the battle between Hornet and Phantom just as it ends. She makes a split second decision that has major repercussions for both her and Phantom.

There were many steps involved in bringing a Weaver into Pharloom.
First, the locating. Then, the sendoff - like soldiers off to war. Then the capture. The return. And lastly, the handoff.
The principle was simple. Give the captured Weaver to the first available Poppet; the silk-spun creations of their God, free to carry the threefold melody, voices to uplift and bring the chosen up through the Cradle.
Poppets were becoming rarer and rarer. For this half-weaver, there was only one left to receive it.
What happened then was no error, nor coup. It had not been for her benefit. She'd only done it because, well.
Because she could.
