That is stretch of time in which Dick waits to die. He feels the blood rushing to his ears pulse at a slower rate with each second, the burn in his lungs hotter than the scorch of seven days in a desert without water.
The art of waiting seems redundant here, but it is no matter, because time finally has Dick under his palm, with control over everything but his mind. All he can do is count.

Now, some will argue that there were three Robins before our first girl (blonde, feisty, and sadly, short-lived - which is who's fault? The girls? or her trainer? Or did she just quit?) and some will argue that there were only two. Then, after a few months of our spunky girl Robin, we get number 2 (or three?) back. Things are great for a few years. We love our Robins and our Robins loved us. You could see it on their faces. They cared. They gave a shit about your kidnapped and murdered sister. They gave a shit that your apartment complex burned down because of faulty wiring. They helped your Grandma up after some punk knocked her down and stole her purse. They were punny. They were spunky. They were feisty. They were cool. They were fun. They brought hope for a better future. They were magic. They were gold.Our current Robin gives those Robin's a bad name and Gotham has had enough.

Could he please try to take a few months to reacquaint himself with who he was past Nightwing and Ric and Agent 37. All he wanted was to try and figure out who Dick was at this point, who he was past the Flying Graysons and the gymnastics and all of it.
