It’s fine. Zoro doesn’t need to say I love you. He says I love you with a protective swipe of his blade, with a you got it, Captain, with a promise of a crown on his king’s head. Mushy feelings can wait until they’ve cleared the pathway to the end.

Summary
Zoro knows he isn’t getting out of this situation without answering, especially not with almost everyone looking at him expectantly.
He rolls his eyes, before resigning himself to play along.
“It wouldn’t be big,” he says. “Something small, get it over with. No ceremony or banquet either.” He says directed towards the cook, who scoffs.
Zoro feels himself smiling mischievously again as everyone around him prepares to whine about his answer once more, when a voice interrupts them.
“Nuh-uh. That won’t do.”
Everyone’s heads turn towards where their captain had been sitting, silently engulfing the heaps of meat Sanji had, as per their routine, put in front of him. They only stare for a good while, unsure if the protest had come from him at all.
“What?” Zoro finally asks.

The crew's casual discussion about weddings goes somewhere no one had expected. No one other than their captain, that is. What else is new?

Summary
Maybe crush is the right word, though; because when Zoro looks at Luffy, it feels like someone’s got an iron grip on his insides. Like Luffy himself is grabbing his innards and mashing them down, smothering them into a tiny ball with just a flickering gaze or a smile.
It’s not love, Zoro thinks. It’s something much, much worse.

Summary
Zoro’s hands are big, thick and knuckly and covered in calluses from his swords. He has a strong grip, too, and strong muscles because he trains them to be strong.
None of it explains the way Luffy’s body lights up when Zoro clasps the back of his neck, like every nerve is alight and trained on the palm cupping the baby hairs at the back of his skull. His stomach knots over itself and he wants to eat everything in Sanji’s kitchen. Zoro’s skin is a little rough and sweaty from fighting and warm.
Zoro is close, his forehead nearly butting Luffy’s and Luffy couldn’t move if he wanted to, trapped there by the closeness and the touch that makes him aware of Zoro’s skin against his in a way he’s never been before. Zoro’s eyes bore into his, digging deep into Luffy and dragging out—something, buried in the base of his spine. He feels like the earth is tilting, and freefall seems like it might be fun.

“Your arm is huge,” Luffy says the word huge with such astonishment that it even makes Zoro himself wonder if his arm is really that big. He keeps his eyes closed, deciding to not give in to the comment and instead lets his captain poke him some more.

Summary
Luffy’s eyes trail back down to the Wado Ichimonji. He slowly slumps where he sits, reaching his hand out to gently touch the white scabbard. It feels so sacred under his touch—like he shouldn’t be touching it at all. But Luffy can’t trust this sword to anyone else—Luffy is the captain, and the captain needs to take care of his crew. Including his crew’s belongings.
OR, Zoro is fatally injured in his first fight against Mihawk. Luffy goes through a lot of emotions.

Summary
Luffy looks again at the bitemarks that he left on Zoro’s wrist. Zoro’s usually hurt, one way or another. Sometimes it’s definitely been Luffy’s fault too, but the bitemarks feel different. They ain’t like normal bruises or cuts. There’s something about seeing the shape of his teeth in Zoro’s skin. Something about the colors, the slightly paler insides of Zoro’s wrists, and the blueness of his veins, and the dark pink color of where Luffy bit him.

Luffy and Zoro time travel back to the early days and split up, in order to change the events of the first timeline for the better. Of course, they find their way back to one another eventually.

“You've got something, but you don't wanna tell me what,” Luffy says, surer this time. Their voice is as light as the campfire, but it burns with the heat of the blaze. Zoro would never wish an immortal life upon anybody, but the fire in Luffy makes it hard not to dream.
