    Summary

Dennis Whitaker is a newly MS2, juggling his classes, part time jobs and being unhoused, while narrowly trying to escape burnout.
One day, he spills his coffee all over another man while trying to get a book from the library. Mortified by the experience he can only find comfort in the fact he will never see this stranger ever again. That is until that man appears in class as a guest lecturer a couple days later.

Michael Robinavitch is taking some time off, over the anniversary of his mentor's death. Feeling too cooped up inside his own home he decides to get in touch with some old friends at the University of Pittsburgh. He is invited as a guest lecturer when when he runs into a particular man who catches his attention.

After their encounter at the library, the two men keep running into each other. Seemingly tied by an invisible magnetic force.

Or; After embarrassing himself in front of a hot older man, Dennis keeps running in to him. The med student tries his best to hide the fact that he's homeless, but the closer he gets to Michael Robinavich, the more difficult it becomes to keep up his facade.

    Summary

The stranger from the stairwell stops beside a bank of linen cabinets and folds his arms loosely across his chest.
No, not a stairwell stranger, Dennis reminds himself. His attending.
Dennis steels himself, and tells himself no matter what, he won’t roll over. He can do this. His future is at stake.
He opens his mouth. “Dr. Robby—”
“You are a fourth-year medical student on rotation in my department,” Dr. Robby cuts off, “and what happened in the stairwell this morning does not change that.”
    Dennis swallows.

Dennis Whitaker didn't need fate to tell him he was meant to be a doctor. He just really wasn't expecting his new attending on his very last rotation of medical school to say the words inked around his bicep.

Or, a slow burn soulmate-identifying marks AU.

    Summary

Jack had just stepped back onto the main floor when he clocked movement at the ambulance entrance, two guys hurrying in, the smaller one helping a guy with a sweatshirt covered in blood. But something was wrong, some unnamable instinct rising within Jack at the way they moved. It was too fluid, too controlled. Jack knew what the walking wounded looked like, had seen it for years, from war zones to bar fights. This wasn't the injured seeking help; this was men hunting.

Time slowed, Jack's heart rate spiking, the adrenaline dump casting everything in sharp relief—the full ED floor, patients plus shift change meaning twice the usual personnel were here.

    Robby was here.

That thought got him moving, Jack approaching laterally. He got there right as the guns came out.

“—and I know that there’s Becca and Tanner and Millie to consider, but I was wondering if you maybe wanted to move in? Together? With me?”

Mel blinks. He certainly doesn’t look like he’s having a stroke.

“Frank, why would we move in together?”

“I thought it might be nice,” he shrugs here, acting nonchalant even though Mel can see the tension in his jaw. “To take that next step in our relationship.”

“Frank, what are you talking about? We’re not in a relationship?”

At this, Frank’s frown deepens before widening into a frustrated half smile. “Uh, yes we are? We’ve been dating for nine months?”

    What.

Or, Frank thinks Mel doesn’t do physical touch.
Or, Mel doesn’t realize they’ve been dating for nine months.
