Summary
The excuse is that hunting in the family’s northern estate is lovely this time of year. The reason is that Caitlyn’s “antics” have frayed her mother’s last nerve and her boss’s last warning-even her father’s worries for her safety are louder than his encouragement now. The distraction is that there’s been a string of thefts in the area, wouldn’t Caitlyn just love solving a crime in the wilderness of her childhood retreat? And the explanation, connected in her mind with a red thread soaring northeast beyond the boundaries of her conspiracy board, is a shipping manifest for an airship stated to have come from the deserts of Shurima, its hull still encrusted with ice.
In which two separate attempts to send a meddlesome woman away from trouble converge.
And backfire.
Alternate summary: Cait and Vi travel through Magic-Not-Viking-Land to unlock a mind controlling collar with the power of friendship and demigods.

“Vi?” In contrast, Caitlyn’s tone was sharp. “What happened? Where are you?”
“R-Remember?”
Caitlyn sounded irate now. “Yes, I recall. Tell me where you are.”
“That—that course was shit,” Vi mumbled, blood staining her lips now. “D-Didn’t tell me to—to look out for smoke bombs. Anyway, I think I m-might be d-dying.”

Or, Vi and Caitlyn realize a new poison is sweeping the streets, and time is running out to find the culprit and solve a series of murders. Future Piltover fic, set in some imaginary canon universe by an author who has absolutely no exposure to LoL other than Arcane.

Vi climbed laboriously to her feet as well, stifling a gasp as pain lanced up her spine, settled in the back of her head like a disease. She’d really broken that rib, huh? But Caitlyn was sweating now, wobbling on her feet—one of them needed to keep their heads. Vi had endured several broken ribs; this was nothing new.
Nothing new.

Or, during a romantic vacation, Caitlyn proves she sucks at bouldering and crashes down a cliff. Vi tries to get her home safely, but there's a problem: Vi definitely snapped a rib breaking Caitlyn's fall. It may have also punctured a lung. Breathing is getting kind of hard.
But it's fine. Vi's fine.

Also there's her beanie-wearing, grumpy older alternate self to deal with. It's nice that Amity is here, but everything wants to eat them so this trip gets a 3.5/5 maximum.
or: Luz and Amity have to survive the perils of an alternate dimension's Boiling Isles; the monsters are terrifying, the people are weird, plants can eat you and magic is poisonous.
