Summary
Katara graduated med school in the top 10% of her class and is two years into a residency program at just 24. But the only place that could take her is a shitty overnight clinic offering even shittier hours. When Katara rescues a mugging vic left for dead on the clinic's doorsteps, the desperate but monotonous grind of living paycheck to paycheck and eating mostly instant meals slowly changes.

The horizon was no longer empty. A ship cut through the mist—massive and black, with its metal sides slick with frost. Smoke bellowed upward from its smokestack, an oily smear against the pale sky. The ship slowed as it approached, shadow falling long and dark across their fragile ice floe.
The engines hissed, then went quiet. Then a head popped over the rail. An older man with silver hair peered down at them, his face kind, as he called out, “Hey, you kids need some help?”
Or, one act of mercy leads to another, until a cold, forgotten village begins to feel alive again…and a lonely boy with a scar might just find a home.

Here the Volcano that killed Avatar Roku erupted 2 years later. Here Aang isn't woken by Katara so when will he be and what world will he awaken to?
AN: Lu Ten accidentally became a main character and made me rewrite the plot. Rude.
