“How do I know?” The kid spits, knife raised again, trembling violently. His eyes are wet, angry and pleading and piercing right down into Grian’s soul.
“...If I can fly?” Grian asks, confused. His heart is beating fast.
The boy shakes his head violently, taking a lurching step forward, now only a few feet away. Something about his eyes almost seems familiar, but the thought is fleeting. The knife looks sharp. The child is crying, slow tears that barely have an effect on his voice.
“No,” the kid says forcefully. “How do I know you’re not a zombie?”

Summary

The Thunderbolts are constantly plagued by visions of all they've lived through, and the whole incident with The Void only made everything worse. The memories, pain, and shame, faded over the years, had come back with a vengeance, and the Thunderbolts come to the reasonable conclusion that the only way to get over their individual trauma is to be supported by their teammates.
