"I suppose it must be easy to guess," Aragorn said slowly. "Surely-"
"Yes, my foster-son," Elrond patted Aragorn on the back. It was a gesture that was so unlike any gesture of love in these recent years that Aragorn froze, locking eyes with Glorfindel who gave him a cheery grin and enthusiastic thumbs-up. "I am glad that your self-awareness has increased since your days of youth. It is you, after all, that is the oldest among us all."
On a fine sunny day in Imladris, Elrond attempts to decide who is the eldest among them.

Summary
On the cusp of the Second Age, Gil-Galad gets himself captured by Fëanorians due to what he is determined to call a misunderstanding and not his own foolishness. Maedhros and Maglor are long gone, as everyone knows, but the remaining followers of the House of Fëanor are now led by someone Gil-Galad's never heard of before.
He's determined to believe that Athalaer is evil, but the more he spends time with them, the more he likes them. What's worse, the jokes the two of them share about an arranged marriage are starting to sound less and less like jokes, and Gil-Galad isn't ready to admit how much he wants it to be real.
