And then it hit him.
Uh Oh—
He really did fuck up.
Somehow worse than he thought he did.
All he could do was think back to the previous night, as he laid down in a cold bed feeling left out. He had been so tired and overwhelmed.
And now, he could only replay that moment over and over in his head as the realization hit him.
______________________________Hizashi Yamada loved his family. His kids and his husband were his rock, the people that kept him going. Yet— when a harsher than normal day leaves him wishing he were more important to them, Hizashi is left facing a reality in which being more important may cost him everything.

"Hey, do you know about the five second rule?" Kirishima asked seemingly out of nowhere.
"Yes?" Izuku responded.
"I-i think this is kinda like that." Kirishima started, hoping he wasn't overstepping. "You know the five second rule is when you drop food on the floor and if you pick it up within five seconds it's safe, even though it's touched the floor."
"What does this have to do with anything?" Izuku asked.
"With your mom...even though you were exposed to some nasty things she said, you think it's fine because she took it back. But it's not, it's not fine. Even scientists have confirmed that as soon as the food touches the ground that bacteria sticks to it, no matter how quickly you picked it up or if you picked it up at all. Those words will still affect you even if she apologized, especially if she made no effort to change or refute what she said…'' Kirishima trailed off.
They stared at each other for a moment.
Kirishima suddenly flushed. "I'm sorry that probably made no sense at all."

Summary
Hizashi lived alone, at the top of a tower in the middle of nowhere. His mother, who he honestly looked nothing like, was fiercely protective of him. The one time he tried to go outside, he was locked in his room for weeks. He would gaze longingly out the window, as every year, without fail, on his birthday, the floating lights appeared. In the course of one day, however, everything changed. Shouta, an orphan with no place to call his home, gets lost in the forest one day, just hoping to find a place he could call home, even just for a night. He stumbles across a beautifully constructed tower, and decides, "Good enough." He climbs in, and meets a strange boy with long hair, and bright green eyes, who acts as if he's never been outside with normal people before. Wait, has he?
