Summary
Chrissy comes out of the kitchen, clutching a small baby to her body, rocking back and forth on her bare feet. A chubby fist is tangled in her hair and Eddie can’t look away.
Especially not when she turns to the side a little bit, going to hand the baby with shaking hands to his uncle, and Eddie catches sight of the baby’s face.
Golden-tinged light brown hair. Big, brown doe eyes.
It all clicks at once, all crashes over his head like the giant waves he saw during a storm in California.
He’s no genius but he can do basic math. That baby is less than a year old, for sure. Pregnancies are nine months. Eddie left eighteen months ago. Those eyes — his own eyes, the ones he inherited from his mother — are unmistakable.

Summary
The first time Eddie Munson watches Chrissy Cunningham die isn't the worst. It's the second, because he had thought she was going to live this time.
//
The universe made a cosmic mistake the day Chrissy Cunningham was allowed to die. It set off a chain of events that led to catastrophe, at first local, then global, and eventually interdimensional. It led to the end of all there is, was, and would ever be.
But the universe is rather interested in self-preservation. It couldn’t save itself in the future, but it could save itself then.
If only someone would get it right.

Summary
“You want us to wait this out,” you say it for him, because he refuses to by the way he shuffles his feet like he’s nervous, like he’s caught red-handed committing a crime.
He seems to consider something. And then — an admission, albeit a hushed one. “Yes,” he whispers. Curbs the affection from scratching the surface.
Your eyes narrow at him, sharp slits that are ill-tempered. “But you won’t let me fuck someone else.”
Rafayel nods his head, no hesitance this time as he already knows he’s being selfish. “Yes,” he whispers, again, another admission that feels too heavy, too loving — too cruel.
You want to give. Rafayel wants to take.
