The warm embrace he wrapped around himself offers a small measure of comfort. It's a feeble substitute for Charles's presence, but it helps to numb the loneliness. The feeling of that sharp jawline over his hair when he nuzzles Charles' neck, the way Charles grabs his waist, the warmth of his voice... Edwin takes a deep breath and swears he can smell Charles' aura staining the blanket. It's a delicious mixture of seawater and wood, gentle and masculine in a way that warms Edwin’s stomach.
His breath hitches, just slightly, and he presses deeper into the fabric, as if he might melt into the illusion. The scent, imagined or not, unravels something tight inside his chest. He shouldn't indulge like this. It's unprofessional, so improper.
But oh, how he aches for those rowdy yet elegant fingers caressing his pale skin, tracing the blue veins visible inside his wrists and making him shiver with tender kisses up his arm. Then, Edwin would let out a soft gasp and Charles would know exactly what Edwin needed.Or, Edwin misses Charles and gets horny about it, luckily Charles comes back soon enough.

His knuckles firmly pressed against each other, the green and red sweater almost too hot. Perhaps it was just his mind being paranoid but he couldn't help but wonder: What if everyone changed their minds about him? What if they weren't coming anymore? He had been waiting... What? "Edwin!" The firm voice of his father took him out of his mind. "Dear boy, stop wasting time by the window and go help your mother and Phyllis on the kitchen." Edwin made a face; one his strict but dear father knew how to interpret immediately. "Stop worrying about Charles. You know deep down he couldn't leave you for the life of his." Once again, mister Payne was right. "I already told you what to do."Or, Edwin invited his friends to the Payne's Christmas party! However there's just one he's actually waiting for, and he's so overwhelmed he'd rather lock himself in his room.

Charles sighed, ducking into the bus as quickly as he could, paying his fare before finding a seat. Thankfully, the bus was mostly empty, a mum and her babe sitting near the front and a couple of teens huddled in the back. Charles found a spot in between both and pulled out his phone.

He sent the text to Edwin, tucking his backpack between his legs on the ground.
It was going to be a boring bus ride, he left his headphones on the kitchen counter, there was no way that they’d be there in a month when he went to check on his mum again. His dad would most likely throw them in the bin.

It was nice, sunny out, almost enough to forget his mum’s refusal to leave his dad.
