What if everything we thought we knew from season 3 and 4 isn't quite how it happened?
“You’re going to need to acknowledge my presence at some point, Sherlock.” The voice echoes in the sparse room, its self-righteous tones unsoftened by the feminine tones. His only visible reaction is to hunch his shoulders up further and clasp his hands so tightly together that the colour leeches out of his skin.

Summary
It’s the end of a very long day at work - a day that was supposed to end over an hour ago. An emergency house call to an elderly patient has prevented John from being home on time but he knows that Mr. Evans had needed the care - just like he knows his daughter is in the very best of hands. All John really wants now is a strong cup of tea and some time for his brain to slow down.
It’s not until he’s at the turn of the stairs that he fully registers what he has been hearing since he walked through the front door. Laughter, proper laughter that comes from the belly and the heart; one high and young, the other the rich rolling laughter of maturity.

“Interesting text? You've been grinning at your phone for ages.” Sherlock adjusts the focus on his microscope and attempts to ignore the way his chest tightens. “Lady friend?”
“No, nothing like that.” John looks up briefly before looking back down at his phone. “I’ve been invited for a weekend away with some of my old army buddies. It’s the annual Army/Navy rugby game soon and they wondered if I’d be interested.” John smiles wistfully, obviously reliving the events of past weekends spent with his old friends, oblivious to the sigh of relief Sherlock gives at this news. “God, I haven't been to one of those in years.”
“Then you should go.” Sherlock looks over at John, observing his underlying excitement at the idea in the way he holds his shoulders and can’t stop smiling down at his phone. “I’ll look after Rosie and I'm sure Mrs Hudson will be there if I am suddenly called away on an important case. Nothing less than a seven, I promise.” Sherlock adds at John’s frown.
“Yeah, maybe.” John glances again at his phone, sucking in his cheeks before taking a deep breath, and looking over at Sherlock. “I don't suppose you’d….fancy coming?” His words are hesitant but somehow hopeful.

Summary
“Perhaps I could help somehow?” Sherlock offers hesitantly, needing to be able to do something, to solve something.
“Find me a suitable girlfriend?” John jokes bitterly.
“I could do that. I’m sure I could design an algorithm that uses data to find you the perfect date.” Sherlock reaches for his notebook and pen, already scribbling down ideas, unaware of John staring incredulously at him. At the sound of John’s mug thunking on the wooden table top Sherlock looks up, raising an eyebrow in query.
“W..what?” John crosses his arms and bites at the inside of his bottom lip, studying Sherlock intently before arriving at a decision. “Oh, what the hell. Go on then."

Summary
Sherlock is fussing with his hair, trying to position a small pair of feline ears. He should look ludicrous, like some sort of poor drag queen kitten, but the drying up of John's mouth and the stirring in his groin would indicate that sex god would be a more appropriate description. John's gaze travels slowly down the length of Sherlock's lithe form, taking in every detail. His body is swathed in form fitting matt Lycra, every curve and dip of muscle sharply defined.

Becoming intimate with one’s employer—or any member of an employer’s family—is a temptation some of my fellows in service have been unable to resist. I had been able to avoid this temptation in the past. But dressing and undressing Mr. Wooster, smelling his unique scent, feeling his flesh beneath my fingers as I slid his socks on and clipped his sock garters, proved a daily struggle between duty and desire.
