Summary
After surviving what can only be described as a suicide mission, Bradley knew he needed to start talking to his uncle and dad to build back their relationships. Between his 15-year absence, harsh words, and completely missing Ice’s cancer he knew he had a lot to make up for.
Besides a brief hug on the carrier right after leaving the F-14, Bradley and Mav had not had much time to reconnect and talk about the past. Bradley knew before he would be able to have a long conversation with his dad he would first need to speak with Slider, who he hoped he would be able to refer to as his uncle again. As intimidating as the situation seemed, it was an inevitable conversation he had to have if he wanted to have his family back in his life.
Or they finally talk it out.

Bradley left and all Jake knew was that he was hurting. Getting called back to Top Gun could only mean it was going to get a whole lot worse or he just might end up with the answers he needs.
Loving Bradley Bradshaw had been easy, it was just like breathing for Jake. He even thought about what marrying Bradley would be like. Would their first dance be a country song and would Bradley play “Great Balls of Fire” on the piano before the night was up? Honestly, Jake should have known it was all too good to be true. No one ever wanted to stay, he was too much, too high maintenance, and too selfish. Walking into their shared apartment one Wednesday afternoon to find it devoid of any hint of Bradley, Jake broke. No note, no toothbrush, not even some of his toothpaste was left. He couldn’t focus, breathing now felt like a knife scraping his lungs. Where before everything was bright and happy with Bradley around, Jake could now only see haunting images and muted colors.

It was slider who came to tell Mav that Ice had passed and he heard Rooster say they would be no one to mourn Mav when he burned in.
When Bradley saw how Maverick reacted to seeing Slider he knew that something had to have happened to Ice, but when he tried to speak he was stopped in his tracks by a stare that could kill. Slider summoned his most intimidating Admiral voice and ordered Bradley to leave “You have done enough damage today. You should leave before you say anything else that would be better left unsaid. I will speak to you later about how you should and should not address superior officers and your CO” Bradley knew better than to try and get a word in so as Slider wrapped Maverick into a hug he slipped out the door wondering why he always said the wrong things at the wrong time.

Eddie turned his head at the sound, eyes widening when he saw the man behind the deep voice. Oh, he was cute. Real cute for a bartender. He may have even been the cutest thing Eddie had seen all year, maybe longer.
Now this was the type of guy Eddie was looking for. And from the looks of his cute little pride pin next to his name tag on his vest, he had some good odds of getting into his pants. A Steve, huh? The name suited him, with that all American hunk thing he had going on. The exact kind of guy that Eddie loved to fuck into the mattress until they cried.
