“I would hold him back. He would rot here, Robs. He has more potential away from here. That’s not the point though.” He groaned and glared up at the ceiling. “When did I become this pathetic? He’s gone and I need to let this go. This is better for him.” Steve went to tear the envelope but Robin snatched it away from him before he could.
“Don’t you dare! You can still mail it when you come to your senses, you may want to add to it. I’ll keep it safe.” She clutched it to her chest like it was precious. Steve felt his chest squeeze at that. She looked like she was trying to protect his heart.
Steve let a long breath out through his teeth and raked his hand through his hair.
“Yeah, I don’t see me writing anymore.”
“Well, I promise I will hold onto it and keep it well protected until I deem it is necessary to let it go. Pinky promise.”
Steve couldn’t help but smile at her as she extended her pinky to him. He hooked his with hers without a second thought.
“Pinky promise.”
—He wrote again. Of course. He also choked at the idea of sending the additions to his original letter.

Katsuki idly rotated his beer as he narrowed his eyes across the table at Eijirou. The bar’s yellow neon flickered, throwing Katsuki’s glower into sharper relief as he hesitated.
“It’s not that simple, Shitty Hair.” Katsuki grumbled.
“Awe, come on Bakubro! I think you’re over complicating it. It’s just a yes or no question! You know, when I asked Mina out I literally did it in front of the cooler section at a Family Mart. We split a strawberry sandwich and we’ve been happy ever since!” Katsuki’s jaw clenched as he tossed back the last of his beer. He glanced around the bar, making sure no one else he knew would overhear him.
“You were also seventeen and didn’t have the history that Izuku and I have. We are just finally figuring out this tension between us, but it’s still making everything complicated. I don’t even know if he wants that.”

He stared at her for a long time before his gaze flicked down to a devastated looking Dustin.
He wasn’t doing this just for Eddie.
“It’s the only way.” His eyes shifted to a bright, inhuman gold that glowed in the murky light of the Upside Down. He could feel his canines lengthen in his mouth as looked down to Eddie’s shoulder and felt the urge to bite.
Eddie was so still. He’d never seen him so still. He was so animated and full of life all the time, seeing him like this terrified Steve.
