Summary

I streak paint across the wide gray floor in curves and circles and long, swordlike lines. I think of the simmering crowds in Eleven and Four, the rumors of uprising in Eight. There is only so long that people can stand to be treated as something less than human. And if there will be two opposing forces surging against each other like oil and water when I’m gone—let them be clear which one I belonged to.
Let them understand that I will be indelible. Even if I all I can leave behind are berry stains on a concrete floor.
Let them know that none of us deserved to be forgotten.

Summary
Disillusioned with District 2, which is firmly under the Capitol's thumb, Darius is actually happy to be posted to District 12 as a peacekeeper. With a corrupt, lazy boss and good people around him, it is possibly the best posting he could have asked for.
Especially, when he meets a young girl from the Seam called Katniss Everdeen. He knows he cannot have her, but that doesn't mean he cannot enjoy her company.
