Neptune pressed the back of his hand to his eyes, trying to stifle the quiet sob that followed next- but it came anyway. A shaky, breathy gasp followed, causing him the hand in his hair to move back to his mouth again. He tried to breathe through it, tried to stop, stop before his moons actually wake- but his stupid brain refused to listen, as always.
Quiet tears stained his sleeves, but at least he made no sound. At least, Neptune thought, he did that right.
Until... a tiny, impossibly small, delicate body pressed itself against the back of his neck.
And Neptune froze.

One of them even turned out to be the literal devil in disguise, it’s really not that hard for him to win against Jin Guangyao and Mo Xuanyu,” Jin Ling says and Jiang Cheng goes ice-cold.
He knew that his relationship with Jin Ling was rocky at best but to hear now that the boy doesn’t even consider him family is a blow Jiang Cheng didn’t expect.
