But as Malcolm continues to read about dissections and an operating theater and a strange man in a leather and metal mask, he begins to remember.
And nearly vomits.

Just another call from their friends to check in on Carlos, another update from the precinct saying they still don't have a lead, another call from his parents to let him know that his mother is praying for them and his father is using every resource at his disposal to track down TK.
As much as he appreciates their concern, the calls are wearing him down, grating on nerves that are already too raw.
It takes everything in him to straighten up and step over the shards of porcelain next to his feet, but he does it, because he can't stop hoping and praying that the next call will be from TK.

He only needs a few drops on the floor to mark their location, and then he slips the knife back into his pocket. "Don't worry about us. Just stop the hunters."
Stiles takes a quick look around, catching the smallest of nods from Derek, Scott, and Isaac, and then he begins.
The incantation he uses draws energy into his body, but it's the spark inside that explodes into a shower of light that kicks his body temperature up a couple of degrees in a matter of seconds as it rushes through his veins and fills him completely.

He kind of feels like he's dying.
"Right now? Yes," Deaton says quietly. Such simple words and yet it knocks the air from Stiles' lungs like a kick to the chest. But before he can even find the courage to ask them to call his dad, Deaton lays a hand over Stiles' heart, a welcome heat seeping through the layers of wool and leather, as he says, "But I might know how to fix that."
